Under the bio on a user's profile, the "X Photos and toots" lists the total number of toots instead of the number containing embeded media like Twitter's "X Photos and videos" on a user's Twitter profile.

I absolutely get your point and I think you're right,that would really make much more sense.
Unfortunately the Mastodon API gives me only the count of Toots,Followers and Followings.
That means I have no way to implement that in a nice way.
Fetching all toots with media and counting them on client side seems to be the only possibility but that would waste so much traffic and server load that I won't implement that.
