- _______________________________
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Any RPGer who's played an SNES game can sightread these controls, but for
- those a little uninitiated, battling is simple.
- - Enemies appear on the map, i.e. there are no random encounters
- - Battling is Speed-based; this determines the turns for both foes/allies
- - Targets can be selected with the arrow pad
- - The current ally whose turn it is has certain abilities that require either
- a button to be pressed, held and released, or used in conjunction with the
- arrow pads (such as Barkley's Fadeaway Jumper).
- Enemies simply use their skills. There is a command menu for each character
- that looks like this:
- |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| Each character has differing skills and a
- | SPECL | special option. For the latter, Hoopz can
- | | evade the next attack in full whenever that
- |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| occurs, while Cyberdwarf can take damage for
- | SKILLS | ATTCK | ITEMS | his allies with a 33% damage reduction. Items,
- |________|_______|_______| Attack, and Flee options appear on everyone's
- | | starting grid and have same functionality.
- | FLEE? |

- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Many enemies have status abnormalities to inflict on the ballers. These are

- MAIN CHARACTERS [CHRC] --- SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW ---
- _______________________________
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ NOTE: "LV??" means requirement needed!
- CHARLES BARKLEY
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Sir Charles...The Round Mound of Rebound...he's been called many things, and
- revered by many...but those days are past. It's slowly revealed why his post-
- -apocalyptic life is bitter and why the future is so empty and bleak. He's
- pretty well-rounded and has a high Attack stat.
- LV00 - Doubleteam -------> Multi-attack phys damage on one target [10BP]
- LV02 - Showboat Jam -----> Gain random stat bonus; damages target [20BP]
- LV04 - Vampslam ---------> Damages enemy, healing Barkley by amnt [10BP]
- LV?? - Holy Jam ---------> Dikembe Mutumbo's forbidden jam......! [35BP]
- LV?? - Ghost Muscle -----> Raises Barkley's Power and Brain stats [05BP]
- BALTHIOS
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- The octaroon great grandson of the famous b-baller Lebron James, Balthios is
- one of the last living zaubermancers. He, Charles, and Hoopz are close, and
- he is very bright. His gray hair is freaky but no one really mentions this
- fact. His Guard stat sucks for quite a long time despite equipment-boosting,
- but this changes later. His stat-down skills are great.
- LV00 - Fire Zauber ------> Lowers enemy's Attack [5BP]
- LV00 - Ice Zauber -------> Heavy damage to enemy [20BP]
- LV03 - Water Zauber -----> Inflicts Diabetes & Glaucoma on enemies [10BP]
- LV03 - Wind Zauber ------> 2-hit damage on all enemies [25BP]
- LV04 - Thunder Zauber ---> Damages one foe repeatedly [25BP]
- LV05 - Muscle Zauber ----> Lowers multiple stats on single enemy [20BP]
- LV?? - Snail Zauber -----> May heavily decrease speed on one foe [10BP]
- CYBERDWARF
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Once a proud dwarf, after an accident he had no choice but to get skin grafts
- made of b-ball leather. Mostly hideous but still kind-hearted, he agrees to
- help Barkley on his quest. Oh, and he likes applebottoms.
- LV00 - Insulin Shot -----> Heals + immunizes target of Diabetes [05BP]
- LV00 - Dwarven Touch ----> Raises random stat + Heals ally VP 50% [10BP]
- LV00 - Dwarf Knowledge --> Fully heals ally's VP, refreshes status [15BP]
- LV05 - Glaucoma Prayer --> Heals Glaucoma on all allies [05BP]
- LV06 - Dwarf Caress -----> Restores 66% of max VP on all allies [20BP]
- LV?? - Chaff Grenade ----> Phys damage to enemy + Lowers Guard [10BP]
- HOOPZ
- ¯¯¯¯¯
- Son of Sir Charles, and a b-ball up-and-comer, Hoopz is how all good kids
- should act: respect their parents, not be blabbermouths, and be helpful. The
- young master has little VP in battle but is very fast, which makes up for

- It's "BBall Twister" attack does medium-damage (~60), and it can't be hit if
- it uses "Mega Jump". If this happens, have Barkley defend for his 66% guard

- The first room contains some inactive lifts, a savepoint, and a vendor. At
- the fork, the only way to proceed is up the left door. Barkley suggests going
- through the cubicles to search for the keycard. Look for wastebaskets with a
- sparkly thing to find a [DWARFBANE] and [BBALL JUICE] item. The last room has
- a [RED KEYCARD] in plain site, luckily. Steal it, return to the savepoint,
- and active the red lift -- this opens the right-hand door up the hall.
- More cubicles! A [TIME ZAUBER] is in the first one's wastebasket, although it
- can't hold a candle to the Snail Zauber. Keep going east, watch the scene
- where Barkley "feels like something happened in a room," and enter the next
- verticle passage of cubicles. The sparkle-less wastebasket in this first area
- has the [F.I.N.A.L. G.U.N.] that the two collectors were looking for. Hoopz
- will be a murdering tool with this equipped, so do so. At the very northern
- room here is the [BLUE KEYCARD]. Return to the lifts and activate the blue
- lift, opening the middle door up the hall.

- | At this point, you can get your reward for the FINAL GUN. If you give the |
- | thing to Mark in town, he trades it for a [GUN'S STICKER] which is stupid |

- If you're hurting from the fights, go back to town and get some free rest.
- Up the hall, talk with Leonard to get the [GREEN KEY]. Further on...

- "Low Blow" does wussy damage to a single target, but "Kamikaze Jam" is liable
- to kill the person it hits. Make sure to have some Steroids/Chicken Dew on-
- hand. "Illusion Shot" is random-target, multiattack damage (~60per). Use
- Barkley's best jams, Flame Zauber, Rapid Fire, and Cyberdwarf's punches to
- inflict most damage. Make sure Dwarf Caress can be used if needed, though.
- "Glory of BBall" will heal all Scott's status ailments and about 571 HP, too,
- which can needlessly prolong the battle...watch out. [You may want to inflict
- Diabetes/Glaucoma with Water Zauber on this end].
- ---
- The [PROTOTYPE B-BALL] is received for the hard work. Some things go awry,
- though, and back in town, it's time to continue (Hoopz isn't in the party
- for awhile). Exit south through the once-fog-ridden path to the Sunbaked
- Parking Lot. The "diabetes cult" lives on Liberty Island, accessible by the

- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- This next part is reminiscent of point-and-click adventures. Do thusly:
- - Take [TRIANGLE ROCK] from the NE part of the rubble (has a sparkle on it)
- - Visit Statue of Liberty in the north; try unsuccessfully to gain entrance
- - In rubble area, NW house will be accessible
- A man here named Rutherford says Yelmirb can cure the diabetes. The Palladium
- Orb Scepter is needed to gain access to his quarters, however. The cave south
- of the rubble, blocked by a boulder, contains that very item. Some fool named
- Jenkins is protecting it...
- - Take Pipe (unsuccessfully)
- - Ask Rutherford if the [PIPE] can be taken
- - Use Pipe & Triangle Rock on the boulder
- This allows entrance into Jenkins' cave. He says that Rutherford is trying to
- kill Yelmirb and he'll give the [ORB SCEPTER] over if Barkley slams him. Say
- y'will and return to "Raffleson's" house. Everyone will accidentally be
- trapped in there, but the poison sugar gas mechanism stalls.
- - Examine the dresser and take a [ZAUBERMANCER GARB].
- - Examine clock to see time is 12:32
- - Examine work table and take [SCREWDRIVER]
- - Use desk (jimmies the lock) and get a [DESK KEY]
- - Examine bookcase to see that three books (#1-3) can't be removed
- - Pull books in this order: 1, 2, 3, 2. This opens a hidden bookshelf door.
- - Use Desk Key on the secret door.
- Everyone should be able to leave at this point.
- - Examine Cultist (Mack) at Statue of Liberty to learn some information
- - Talk with Mack about Das Fructose Ungeheuer by the stone slab (rubble area)
- Mack says the well has the entrance to where the Immaculate Rod lies. The
- going-away present of [750 NEO-SHEKELS] is also given! The [SUGAR COUNTER]
- will keep track of the sugar rates down there; more than 4.5 granules per
- square inch is fatal...
- Before leaving, find Jenkins' corpse and Cyberdwarf learns "Chaff Grenade"!

- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- The Sugar Counter will appear in the lower-left corner -- if it gets to 4.5,
- it's game over. The way to proceed through here is to WALK, not dash, because
- the player can react to the ticker easier (not to mention it stays virtually
- in the same spot when walking). Running'll just spontaneously sugarify you.
- Also, try to stay on the dirty path away from the "sugardrifts," for good
- measure.
- Luckily, the path is rather straightforward. A small cave-in will send a gust
- of sugar flying down the path; back up and let its flurry pass. Further on, a
- shadow will move across a bridge. Follow it until a white soda can (?) figure
- runs away. This time, take the long u-shaped path around instead of the quick
- way (unless you wanna dieeeeee).
- Keep going west until a sudden vision of sugar (LOL?) happens. A sugarfied
- body lies along the path here, but isn't that important. Further down, the
- Diabeastie is waiting...
- BOSS: Reginald HP: ~1200 EXP: 3598 NS: 581
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- He ain't the diabeastie, but he's here...so let's kill 'im! "Greater Earth
- Spire" does about 300 to one target, and he can eat a hamburger to recover
- 999 BP! "Summon Bee Swarm" does about 130/per hit on a target too. Reginald
- cannot be heavily damaged until the red aura around him dissipates; even then
- magical-type abilities and skills do pitiful damage. Stick with physical hits
- and strikes, while Cyberdwarf plays the role of item healer. "Chromatic Orb
- Lv119" inflicts multiple stat-down effects with a small 100-dmg tag; beware
- its use in the early going!
- ---
- The [IMMACULATE ROD] is received afterwards. However, upon approaching the
- Statue of Liberty, the real culprit appears...
- BOSS: Diabeastie HP: ~1500 EXP: 4378 NS: 658
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- "Sugar Storm" is used to inflict all allies with Diabetes; use Insulin Shot
- to combat it. Inflict Glaucoma with Water Zauber, and use Muscle Zauber to
- neutralize some of its all-around effectiveness. "Glomp" is single-target
- damage (~200), while its got a three-strike physical attack (~100/per) that
- someone can suffer through. "Spontaneous Sugarfication" does about 5000dmg
- to a target, which is massive overkill -- still kinda funny. Revive that guy
- and continue with the normal slaughtering.
- ---
- It drops a [POLESHAFT] after it dissolves (pun?). A right nice fellow named
- Octavius Steambrast appears at this time, wanting the newly-acquired item.
- Tell him no, save/heal, and enter the statue. At the end, "Yelmirb" agrees to
- cure Hoopz' type 2 diabetes...but SUDDENLY OMG:
- BOSS: Vinceborg 2050 HP: ~2000 EXP: 4932 NS: 896
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Our good 'friend' is back. Use Muscle Zauber to reduce his effectiveness, for
- one...yeah, that's a good start. Vince now knows "Proximity Pass," which puts
- two mines on two different targets for about 150dmg. "Binary Shower" ups his
- stats somewhat, which should break even if you decreased a bunch. Oh, and he
- can heals 400HP & BP this time! Feeding Barkley BP+ items now and then, he
- just used Doubleteam the whole fight, while Cyberdwarf used Dwarf Caress and
- his powerful punches when needed. "Short Circuit" just downs a few stats and
- a waste of a turn, pretty much. He doesn't heal as much as some earlier foes
- though.
- ---
- Back in the subway station, Juwanna Man gives Barkley a [DIMENSION WHISTLE].
- She says manufactured jamicite might be in Cuchulainn's Tomb, and the rails
- can take 'em there. Before talking to the conductor and heading there, make
- sure to re-equip Hoopz with all his good stuff.

- No, not Charles! Cyberdwarf is the one who hasn't felt a woman's touch in a
- long time. He only likes "applebottoms," apparently. The WNBA's Ivory Latta
- will be the only suitable match, apparently. They go into the backroom to get
- to know each other better. Choose the following replies in order to, uh, win
- this...uh, thing.
- • That's a pretty name, Ivory
- • What are some of your interests?
- • What books do you like?
- • I also read romance novels.
- • I think you doubt yourself.
- • I don't think so.
- • That...that was amazing.
- Latta should bring C'dwarf out into the fresh air (does that exist here??)
- • It's...beautiful.
- • What do you usually think about?
- They should kiss and Cyberdwarf should get the [TUPPERWARE ARMOR] and...also,
- an [IVORY'S BROMIDE].

- What may be the funniest take on Chocobo breeding, Barkley can raise his own
- pet b-ball. Barkley's old coach will help describe what each command does
- (feeding, watering, playing with b-ball). As far as I know, there's no real
- outcome to this besides wasting lots of money and getting the same note about
- "anything else?" :p

- Talk with Meadowlark Lemon to learn there's a tournament around, and the
- winner gets a 1-of-a-kind prize! The reigning champ is Kevin Garnett and has
- never once been defeated. The arena's right near the pump, too. Register for
- the showdowns and talk with Garnett a little. Then, it's off to a Hellblazen
- Battlesquare for the matches!
- BOSS: Hell Orc HP: ~100 EXP: 338 NS: 68
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Oh, so Shrek's here? Any move can kill this sucker...his HP is horrible.
- BOSS: Doomhell Skele HP: ~200 EXP: 351 NS: 71
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Again, easy as pie.
- BOSS: Blood Ghoul HP: ~200 EXP: 351 NS: 71
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- The H/S Ball eviscerates chaff like this.
- BOSS: Delmon Master HP: ~1000 EXP: 372 NS: 75
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Still pretty easy, but a step up in difficulty...slightly. Even at only Lv12
- Barkley will probably three times faster than this sucker. In fact, he will
- suicide himself with "Flamesplosion," probably in awe of Barkley's talented
- abilities. Make sure to heal your HP/BP before moving onto the champion...
- BOSS: Kevin Garnett HP: ~1500 EXP: 355 NS: 71
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- "Dipsy Doo Dunkaroo" can inflict damage and Guard -25 (!?), which should not
- matter too much -- Barkley is clearly faster and can sink his teeth in, even
- with simple Forward Jumpers. Watch out for the "Dojo Kick" which can do 200+,
- if it even comes to that.
- The final prize? A [MITHRIL JERSEY]!

- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- After leaving the B-Ball Dimension, it's back to the desolate court again...
- Head north from the arrival point and when you meet the "shadowy figure," the
- choice to join or refuse him comes up. Make sure to refuse or it's game over!
- BOSS: Shadow Barkley HP: ~2000 EXP: 4 NS: 4
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Haha, by far one of the funniest boss sprites...eat it, FF7! "Plague Needle"
- will inflict Diabetes/Glaucoma on everyone. "Verboten Jam" will probably kill
- whoever it hits, even if you use multiple Muscle Zaubers. "Moon Regeneration"
- will refill HP (~560) and heal ailments; just recast 'em when this happens.
- "Shadow Lightning" deals about 100dmg/per hit in a scattershot fashion. "Dark
- Vortex" does about 200 to a single target...
- Use Insulin Shot when the time arises, and use Water Zauber to inflict both
- Glaucoma & Diabetes on the boss. Cyberdwarf should keep his BP up and Dwarf
- Caress when the hurt is put on. Sir Charles should just use Doubleteam every
- turn, while someone feeds him items. I mean, this is the last battle -- why
- save the inventory? Make sure to Ghost Muscle beforehand, and keep hitting
- it with Diabetes for an extra 147 or so damage per turn.
- But that ain't all!
- BOSS: T-Rex Barkley HP: ~3000 EXP: 4 NS: 4
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Haha... "Chomp Chomp Yum Yum" drains as much damage as it inflicts, usually
- about 400. "Dinosaur Spit" heavily lowers the four main stats on a single
- character. "Doomfire Death" inflicts 9999dmg on two random targets...! "Tail
- Whip" hits thrice on one target and "Flamehell" does about 250-300 to all
- targets.
- This battle is most annoying because of the draining skill. Barkley should
- once again Ghost Muscle + Doubleteam, while Muscle/Flame Zauber is put into
- effect (Zeta Slash may help as well for reducing its turn rate). Cyberdwarf
- will find much use for his "Caress" ability, and young master Hoopz is mostly
- relegated to item-thrower due to his great speed. Hoopz should also use his
- 100% Dodge ability, because this is a free evade that's stored for the next
- time he's attacked (even if he does things inbetween!). Snail Zauber will be
- of use, too, if you have it.

- 18) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS [FAQZ]
- _______________________________________________________________________________
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- [Q] - How do I save?
- [A] - Talk to the chatterbox gas pumps around the towns & dungeons
- [Q] - I can't figure out how to do this (Attack) skill right!
- [A] - Press left/right to see the base accuracy and method for performing it.
- [Q] - Hey, Cyberdwarf's finishers are raising the target's stats!!!!
- [A] - The version of the game yer playing is outdated. That has been fixed. :p
- [Q] - How do I get all the Library cards / Cuchulainn's Key?
- [A] - You don't. They don't exist. This is supposed to be an in-joke, I think,
- and has been debunked by the creators on a few sites.
- [Q] - In Necron 5, how do I open the door that needs the Cuchulainn's Tomb Key?
- [A] - The key doesn't seem to exist -- another joke at our expense. =(
- [Q] - What is Victorian Steampunk mode?
- [A] - The game takes a funny twist, with some characters being renamed, their
- portraits being changed (Hoopz now looks like a neathdrathal, for one),
- and there's a generally more "proper" feel to the people. The Ultimate
- Hellbane becomes "Supreme Cogblight," and there's other britishisms to
- find, haha. Nothing carries over (item, money, etc.) though.
- [Q] - I heard there's a "Hell" area in this game?
- [A] - Yes, there is...the Deathtemple. To gain access to it, y'must be a
- complete jerkwad all throughout the game. The noted instances are the
- following:
- - In Neo New York City, do not give kid by church any neo-shekels
- - In NNYC Sewers, do not give slacker outside of Allard's office any $$$
- - In Proto NNYC, do not apologize to Wildman (next door to Juwanna Mann)
- - Do not give the Poleshaft to Octavius Steambrast on Liberty Island
- - In the B-Ball Dimension, do not spot Dick Vitale any money
- Being nice to any of these five people prevents access to Hell. To get
- to that hot location, complete the requirements and die; instead of
- going to the game over screen, Barkley winds up there.
- [Q] - Who is Hiratio?
- [A] - He's in a series of potato games at gzstorm.com
