I found to cumbersome to add a background and thumbnail images to libreflix new media item. I mean at first sight there's nothing wrong with them, and indeed they works pretty well.
But...
Since we (users) are gathering the information about the media from web (mostly?), it would be much more user friendly to have an option
to just paste the image's url on the fields.
The backend would make a copy (to prevent that the original goes dead).
Furthermore, the size restrictions is very annoying in the current way, I mean, open Gimp (or other image editing program) just to crop the image to the correct size is very boring.
The experience would be much more pleasing to let the user make the crop in libreflix (the same way when you're adding a profile | cover photo to facebook, or an photo to github, etc)
About the copyrights of the copied, I think that we're on the same as before, since the user will do the same stuff, we're just bypassing the requirement to save the file on the disk and crop it by yourself.
I'm eager to try it (I won't have time until january) so I'll be pleased to assign it to myself if you folks see any value to this idea!
Thanks ;D

I'm with you about how boringness the current way of uploading the images is. Especially if you're not the producer of the production, you don't have all the art files and possibly is not into image editing and etc.
Actually the thumbnail/cover art image upload, that needs to be exactly 480x270px is very bad! When I first write the code I was planning this way, with the possibility to crop the image after the upload, but then I get stuck in something and just did the simple solution that fits. But I think we really need to have this feature.
Just about the URL option, that is very welcome, but that I'm not really sure if worth the job. I mean, there is a lot of websites with this option - may be the utility of it is the reason to be there - but I sincerely never used it. But, as a digital data accumulator, I am suspect to tell. xD Tell me if I'm wrong.
Thank you for starting this issue, Matt! <3

I see! Well you did explained everything so there's no much room to any further development on this issue!
Since you tagged as "Já trabalhando nisso", do you need some help? There's already code for that feature?
Let me know!
No need to say thanks, that's really my pleasure!

Oh, no. Sorry for the fail of communication. I put the tag to say that you/us were already working on it.
So we can discard the URL upload (by now) and work on the upload crop function?
Fine-uploader looks awesome and comes with all the validators, drag and drop, progress bar, etc and uses MIT License.
You are welcome to work on it. Tell me if you have any problem. I still did not write a documentation to deploy correctly Libreflix (what a shame), but I'll do it until January 5th.
Hugs! <3

For me the option to work only on the cropper seems fine, after
that we can discuss the other stuff ;D
About the documentation... While I managed to built libreflix by
myself in the other issue that I'd worked on, I did with a bunch of hacks - I mean, I had no experience on web development whatsoever, so I was discovering the way while walking it.. - So I think that documentation about the deploying would be very, very nice!

Ok then I'll work on it ;D
