When a status with multiple reply chains is expanded, all of the replies appear connected as one long reply chain. I recommend removing the blue bar between separate reply chains.
For second level replies and further (replies to replies and etc.), the appearance is a little more complicated. I think it looks cleaner to break the blue bar when a reply has multiple second level reply chains, but I don't know of a good way to make it clear that further second level reply chains are replies to the first level reply. Twitter hides all second level replies except for the most popular, which is obviously a bad choice.
I illustrated this in the attached picture in case it is hard to understand.

In the javascript and the light theme,this bug has already been fixed some releases ago.
Unfortunately I forgot to change the dark css file to make use of the fix,too.
It shouldn't be hard to fix.
Will be done with the next update.
