The who-to-follow feature is feature a great feature. But currently, it's hard to understand, how the suggested profiles get selected from the fediverse.

As explained in the opt-in message and as cause why this opt-in thing exists at all,this feature is provided by a third party API.
I don't know how their algorithm works exactly but as far as I understand it,they compare the words you use and how often you use them with the posts of other users.

I wasn't aware of the popup anymore, sorry! Maybe we could add an question mark if somebody likes to read it again?
Go to settings -> general and disable who to follow. Then the opt-in message will be displayed again until you reenable who to follow.
