Currently it's pretty timeconsuming to follow a new person which should be added to a list, too. (add person, open lists overview, klick add person, pick last added person).
Maybe it would make sense, if a user has lists, that you can pick one / multiple lists if you start following a new person. An dialog or pull down menu at the follow-button might be an idea?

I don't understand what you think is time consuming here.
There are two very simple possibilities to add people to a list.
You can go to lists,click add at the lists overview and then click add in the following list.
I think that's what you described which makes most sense if you created a new list and want to add many people you already follow there.
The other thing is that there is now "Add to list @username" in the dropdown menu at every post.
There you can select a list to add the user to.
If you don't already follow this user,you'll be asked if you want to follow and then this user will be followed and added to the list automatically.
Probably you didn't see the second possibility or do you really think of a even simpler solution?

Yes, that's perfect! I wasn't aware, that this menu doesn't focus on the context of the post, but also of the author. But yes, makes sense!
