Hardware list

There are many, MANY DIFFERENT hardware to choose and this wiki cannot cover all of them. But we can mention some devices that might be good for freedom, easy to find and maybe something we might recommend. Keep in mind that the author of this wiki haven't even touched many of these hardware, but we might assume they are good.

Desktop

Dell Optiplex 7010 Released in 2013(?), has some SATA ports, easy to access motherboard, corebootable? Common. dolphinana owns it.

iMac 2007 "All in one computer", hard to disassemble, runs GNU/Linux well. Wifi and GPU requires proprietary firmware. dolphinana used to own it, installed Trisquel GNU/Linux and gave it away.

Laptops

Thinkpad T60 Released in 2006, it's possible to install libreboot without disassembly. dolphinana doesn't own it.

Thinkpad X200 Released in 2008(?), portable, libreboot can be installed but it requires disassembly and rom programmer. dolphinana doesn't own it.

Acer Aspire ZG1 A netbook, released in 2004-08-ish(?), prolly 8 inch screen, not very good disassembly process. {I broke the keyboard attach thing. ~dolphinana} dolphinana owns it.

Asus Chromebook C201 Released in 201X. Librebootable. Arm processor. dolphinana doesn't own it.

Cellphone

Samsung Galaxy S2 Android based phone, has removable battery, sim and microSD slot. Replicant or postmarketOS can be installed. Wifi, modem and gpu (hw acceleration) requires proprietary firmware. dolphinana doesn't own it. Samsung Galaxy S3 Android based phone, has removable battery, sim and microSD slot. Replicant or postmarketOS can be installed. Wifi, bluetooth, modem and gpu (hw acceleration) requires proprietary firmware. Works with uboot. 80 millions units sold, common. dolphinana owns it! PinePhone "Linux smartphone", has removable battery, sim and microSD slot, hardware switches. dolphinana doesn't own it. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Android based phone, non-removable battery. Has headphone jack, dual-sim and microSD slot. Has a shitty front camera on the screen, four cameras on its back. Unlocking its bootloader requires internet connection, Xiaomi account, phone number, sim card inside the phone, proprietary Windows app. LineageOS can be installed and postmarketOS can probably run with limited functionality. dolphinana doesn't own it anymore.

iPhone 3G iPhoneOS based device, released by Apple in 2008. No user-removable battery, no SD slot. Has headphone jack, sim slot and proprietary 30-pin port for charging and data transfer. Comes with iPhoneOS 2.0 and activating it requires having a sim-card inside and being connected to computer running iTunes, though it can be activated without sim card using proprietary jailbreak exploit. Wifi, modem, gpu and touchscreen requires proprietary firmware. 128MB ram, 8 or 16 GB NAND, 3.5 inch 480x320 18-bit LCD screen, 620 MHZ ARM 1176JZ(F)-S v1.0 processor, 1150 mAh battery. Not usable in freedom yet. 26 million units? dolphinana owns it(?).

Miscellenous

Ben Nanonote Copylefted hardware, fits on the palm of human hand, handheld. 32 or 64 MB ram, 2GB NAND. Very rare. dolphinana doesn't own it.
