  1. \chapter {Maintaining {\REDUCE}}
  2. {\REDUCE} continues to evolve both in terms of the number of facilities
  3. available, and the power of the individual facilities. Corrections are
  4. made as bugs are discovered, and awkward features simplified. In order to
  5. provide users with easy access to such enhancements, a {\em {\REDUCE}
  6. network library\/} has been established from which material can be extracted
  7. by anyone with electronic mail access to the Internet computer network.
  8. In addition to miscellaneous documents, source and utility files, the
  9. library includes a bibliography of papers referencing {\REDUCE} which
  10. contains over 800 entries. Instructions on using this library are sent to
  11. all registered {\REDUCE} users who provide a network address. If you
  12. would like a more complete list of the contents of the library, send to
  13. {\em reduce-netlib@rand.org\/} the single line message {\em send index\/} or
  14. {\em help}. The current {\REDUCE} information
  15. package can be obtained from the network library by including on a
  16. separate line {\em send info-package\/} and a demonstration file by
  17. including the line {\em send demonstration}. If you prefer, hard copies
  18. of the information package and the bibliography are available from the
  19. {\REDUCE} secretary at RAND, 1700 Main Street, P.O. Box 2138, Santa
  20. Monica, CA 90407-2138 ({\em reduce@rand.org}). Copies of the network
  21. library are also maintained at other addresses. At the time of writing,
  22. {\em reduce-netlib@can.nl\/} and {\em reduce-netlib@pi.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp\/}
  23. may also be used instead of {\em reduce-netlib@rand.org}.
  24. A World Wide Web {\REDUCE} server with URL
  25. \begin{verbatim}
  26. http://www.rrz.uni-koeln.de/REDUCE/
  27. \end{verbatim}
  28. is also supported. In addition to general information about {\REDUCE}, this
  29. server has pointers to the network library, the demonstration versions,
  30. examples of {\REDUCE} programming, a set of manuals, and the {\REDUCE} online
  31. help system.
  32. Finally, there is a {\REDUCE} electronic forum accessible from the same
  33. networks. This enables {\REDUCE} users to raise questions and discuss
  34. ideas concerning the use and development of {\REDUCE} with other users.
  35. Additions and changes to the network library and new releases of {\REDUCE}
  36. are also announced in this forum. Any user with appropriate electronic
  37. mail access is encouraged to register for membership in this forum. To do
  38. so, send a message requesting inclusion to \\
  39. {\em reduce-forum-request@rand.org}.
