  1. Anthony's Editor
  2. ================
  3. Public Domain 1991, 1993 by Anthony Howe.
  4. The following license is similar, but not identical, to the GNU Public
  5. Licence agreement.
  6. Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this
  7. license, but changing it is not allowed. You can also use this
  8. wording to make the terms for other programs.
  9. Our general public license is intended to give everyone the right to
  10. share "Anthony's Editor", from hereon refered to as << AE >>. To make
  11. sure that you get the rights we want you to have, we need to make
  12. restrictions that forbid anyone to deny you these rights or to ask you
  13. to surrender the rights. Hence this license agreement.
  14. Specifically, we want to make sure that you have the right to give
  15. away copies of << AE >>, that you receive source code or else can get
  16. it if you want it, that you can change << AE >> or use pieces of it in
  17. new programs, and that you know you can do these things.
  18. To make sure that everyone has such rights, we have to forbid you to
  19. deprive anyone else of these rights. For example, if you distribute
  20. copies of << AE >>, you must give the recipients all the rights that
  21. you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the
  22. source code. And you must tell them their rights.
  23. Also, for our own protection, we must make certain that everyone finds
  24. out that there is no warranty for << AE >>. If << AE >> is modified
  25. by someone else and passed on, we want its recipients to know that
  26. what they have is not what we distributed, so that any problems
  27. introduced by others will not reflect on our reputation.
  28. Therefore we (Anthony Howe) make the following terms which say what
  29. you must do to be allowed to distribute or change << AE >>.
  30. COPYING POLICIES
  31. 1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of << AE >> source
  32. code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously
  33. and appropriately publish on each copy a valid copyright notice
  34. "Public Domain 1991, 1993 by Anthony Howe." (or with whatever years
  35. are appropriate); keep intact the notices on all files that refer to
  36. this License Agreement and to the absence of any warranty; and give
  37. any other recipients of the << AE >> program a copy of this License
  38. Agreement along with the program. You may charge a distribution fee
  39. for the physical act of transferring a copy.
  40. 2. You may modify your copy or copies of << AE >> source code or
  41. any portion of it, and copy and distribute such modifications under
  42. the terms of Paragraph 1 above, provided that you also do the
  43. following:
  44. a) cause the modified files to carry prominent notices stating
  45. that you changed the files and the date of any change; and
  46. b) cause the whole of any work that you distribute or publish,
  47. that in whole or in part contains or is a derivative of << AE >>
  48. or any part thereof, to be licensed at no charge to all third
  49. parties on terms identical to those contained in this License
  50. Agreement (except that you may choose to grant more extensive
  51. warranty protection to some or all third parties, at your option).
  52. c) if the modified program serves as a text editor, there must be
  53. a means by which to view the version and copyright notice "Public
  54. Domain 1991, 1993 by Anthony Howe." (or with the years that are
  55. appropriate), saying that there is no warranty (or else, saying
  56. that you provide a warranty) and that users may redistribute the
  57. program under these conditions, and telling the user how to view a
  58. copy of this License Agreement.
  59. d) You may charge a distribution fee for the physical act of
  60. transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty
  61. protection in exchange for a fee.
  62. Mere aggregation of another unrelated program with this program (or its
  63. derivative) on a volume of a storage or distribution medium does not bring
  64. the other program under the scope of these terms.
  65. 3. You may copy and distribute << AE >> (or a portion or derivative
  66. of it, under Paragraph 2) in object code or executable form under the
  67. terms of Paragraphs 1 and 2 above provided that you also do one of the
  68. following:
  69. a) accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable
  70. source code, which must be distributed under the terms of
  71. Paragraphs 1 and 2 above; or,
  72. b) accompany it with a written offer, valid for at least three
  73. years, to give any third party free (except for a nominal shipping
  74. charge) a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding
  75. source code, to be distributed under the terms of Paragraphs 1 and
  76. 2 above; or,
  77. c) accompany it with the information you received as to where the
  78. corresponding source code may be obtained. (This alternative is
  79. allowed only for noncommercial distribution and only if you
  80. received the program in object code or executable form alone.)
  81. For an executable file, complete source code means all the source code for
  82. all modules it contains; but, as a special exception, it need not include
  83. source code for modules which are standard libraries that accompany the
  84. operating system on which the executable file runs.
  85. 4. You may not copy, sublicense, distribute or transfer << AE >>
  86. except as expressly provided under this License Agreement. Any
  87. attempt otherwise to copy, sublicense, distribute or transfer << AE >>
  88. is void and your rights to use << AE >> under this License agreement
  89. shall be automatically terminated. However, parties who have received
  90. computer software programs from you with this License Agreement will
  91. not have their licenses terminated so long as such parties remain in
  92. full compliance.
  93. 5. If you wish to incorporate parts of << AE >> into other programs
  94. whose distribution conditions are different, include both in the
  95. source and documentation an acknowledgment of the author's work,
  96. "Portions of this code derivied from Anthony's Editor. Public Domain
  97. 1991, 1993 by Anthony Howe." (or whatever years are appropriate).
  98. NO WARRANTY
  99. BECAUSE << AE >> IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, WE PROVIDE ABSOLUTELY NO
  100. WARRANTY, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE STATE LAW. EXCEPT
  101. WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING, ANTHONY HOWE AND/OR OTHER PARTIES
  102. PROVIDE << AE >> "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED
  103. OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
  104. MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK
  105. AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD
  106. THE << AE >> PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL
  107. NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
  108. IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW WILL ANTHONY HOWE AND/OR
  109. ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY MODIFY AND REDISTRIBUTE << AE >> AS PERMITTED
  110. ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST
  111. MONIES, OR OTHER SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING
  112. OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS
  113. OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY THIRD
  114. PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM TO OPERATE WITH PROGRAMS NOT
  115. DISTRIBUTED BY FREE SOFTWARE FOUNDATION, INC.) THE PROGRAM, EVEN IF
  116. YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY
  117. CLAIM BY ANY OTHER PARTY.
