I wouldn't call myself an avid reader but I do enjoy reading at times. I tend to read either technical works, sci-fi, or fantasy novels. I do, however, have some favorites that are not of those genres. Generally speaking, my top 5 favorite books are: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Flowers for Algernon, Land of Lisp, The Catcher in the Rye, [the original] The Admiral Thrawn Series. The Thrawn series is 3 books and they're all excellent so I just lump them into one. Ender's Game and Shadow of the Hegemon are extremely good as well. I'm sure my list of favroites will change as time goes on. The Catcher in the Rye is likely going to be dropped off the list as it's definitely not as good as some other books I've read.
I tend to favor older sci-fi books as they have a more unknown and less specific nature to them - in my opinion, it makes them more exciting.
more to come... (maybe some book reviews)
I just recently finished reading Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke. It was very good. I'm currently reading: Hammer of God and listening to Time's Eye, both also by Clarke.
