  14. <p>
  15. I'm excited to say that MediaGoblin has
  16. <a href="https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/2014/submissions/mediagoblin-decentralized-social-media-publishing-for-everyone">entered into the Knight News Challenge</a>!
  17. For those not familiar, the
  18. <a href="https://www.newschallenge.org/">Knight News Challenge</a>
  19. is an excellent grant giving program centered around free expression
  20. on the net, particularly in areas of citizen journalism.</p>
  21. <p>
  22. We think we couldn't be a more perfect fit. Just read
  23. <a href="https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/2014/brief.html">the description</a>:
  24. </p>
  25. <blockquote>
  26. This is an open call for ideas. We want to discover projects that
  27. make the Internet better. We believe that access to information is
  28. key to vibrant and successful communities, and we want the Internet
  29. to remain an open, equitable platform for free expression, commerce
  30. and learning. We want an Internet that fuels innovation through the
  31. creation and sharing of ideas.
  32. </blockquote>
  33. <p>
  34. This is <i>exactly</i> the area that we're working on in MediaGoblin, so
  35. we're super thrilled to be applying. If we got this grant, it could
  36. really change things for MediaGoblin and allow us to very quickly and
  37. efficiently bring the project to the next level and achieve our dream
  38. of beautiful, decentralized, user-freedom-oriented media publishing on
  39. the internet to life.
  40. </p>
  41. <p>
  42. So <a href="https://www.newschallenge.org/challenge/2014/submissions/mediagoblin-decentralized-social-media-publishing-for-everyone">check out our application</a>!
  43. We are totally open to constructive comments and feedback on that
  44. page. And if you're as excited as we are, feel free to give us some
  45. applause!
  46. </p>
  47. <p><i>
  48. <b>PS:</b>
  49. We're well aware of the YouTube upload irony. It seems to be a required part of
  50. the campaign submission if you want to have a video. Shows just how
  51. badly getting MediaGoblin out there is needed!
  52. </i></p>
  53. <p><i>
  54. <b>PPS:</b>
  55. Don't forget that we're also running
  56. <a href="/pages/campaign.html">a campaign</a>... If you haven't
  57. supported the campaign yet already, that's also a great way to help!
  58. </i></p>
