  4. I am a strange and cursed poet
  5. delirious, destined, comprised
  6. of a million litle shards of light
  7. laying stabbed here,
  8. alone, abandoned, punishment for pursuit
  9. of a weird and perverse rite
  10. over-reliant on nuggets from days gone by
  11. what happened to the age where I used to so easelessly fly?
  12. tell me, my angel, the love of my life
  13. what do you make of this thing we call time?
  14. for an enigmatic sort of maelstrom has overtaken my heart
  15. and now I yearn for a world that does not exist,
  16. that I *know* does not exist, has never, will never
  17. in all of the atoms of my body
  18. and yet they call out to you
  19. burn in the depths of the night
  20. two ragged scars on the back of my chest sobbing
  21. for the fields in which we used to play the days away.
  22. I want to tell you a story
  23. of a girl named Lucine
  24. and the many exploits of hers
  25. which I've oft dreamed
  26. but the encore came out of left field
  27. for now I sit here among the tomatoes in my garden
  28. and revel in a world
  29. where such beautiful things can exist
  30. underneath my fingertips, lithe as my skin-
  31. despite the odds, are you and I kin?
  32. her arms would feel lithe,
  33. this goddess of mine,
  34. but I have the feeling
  35. I am proudly less than divine
  36. the final day approaches swiftly.
  37. I am nineteen now,
  38. and I must be brave.
  39. the time for hiding, cowering behind someone else is over;
  40. there can be no other way.
  41. damn it all! damn it all to the end!
  42. why do I persist in this place, for some semblance of "friend"?
  43. an expectation of returns on my dues?
  44. all you pitiful monsters want me to become a recluse!
  45. all these months I've wasted, collecting your facts
  46. while on everything I've ever loved, so relentlessly shat
  47. do you think me a pawn of some scripted fate?
  48. I can get around without references, even if it means I'll be late!
  49. stop looking,
  50. stop hiding,
  51. stop pretending you care.
  52. a perverse need to know,
  53. an addiction to hear-say.
  54. truthiness? *where?*
  55. if the world shall stand against me,
  56. and my right to exist as I am,
  57. then I shall stand against it in equal measure.
