  1. Postgres, developed originally in the UC Berkeley Computer Science
  2. Department, pioneered many of the object-relational concepts now
  3. becoming available in some commercial databases. It provides
  4. SQL92/SQL99 language support, transaction integrity and type
  5. extensibility. PostgreSQL is an open source descendant of this
  6. original Berkeley code.
  7. PostgreSQL database is Open Source product and available without
  8. cost. To use PostgreSQL support, you need PostgreSQL 6.5 or later.
  9. PostgreSQL 7.0 or later to enable all PostgreSQL module feature.
  10. PostgreSQL supports many character encoding including multibyte
