ikiwiki-templates-l10n

This is an attempt/proposal to implement a mantainable way to ikiwiki templates localization.

How to use

The proposed use is to config your sites changing:

# additional directory to search for template files
templatedir: /usr/share/ikiwiki/templates

to:

# additional directory to search for template files
templatedir: /home/user/.ikiwiki/templates-l10n

...or anywhere else you've put the templates-l10n folder.

Proposal of organization

The idea is to have subfolders in the gettext model ll_CC as in en_US.

This is needed when there is no initiative to translate templates via po files.

So the proposed workflow to add a new language would be:

• Create a new subfolder under templates-l10n, for example templates-l10n/pt_BR;
• Clone the latest template original files from the main templates folder. On UNIX: rsync templates-l10n/en/*.tmpl templates-l10n/ll_CC/*.tmpl, replacing ll_CC with you own language;
• Translate the .tmpl files within the new subfolder;
• For now, change ikiwiki's templatedir config from /usr/share/ikiwiki/templates to /user/share/ikiwiki/templates-l10n/ll_CC, replacing ll_CC with your own language.

Perspective

The ideal according to my proposal would be to have an /usr/share/ikiwiki/templates-l10n in the main ikiwiki distribution and have the language configuration use the corresponding /usr/share/ikiwiki/templates-l10n/ll_CC/, if any.
