-
General news

-

- I was too tired to get much done today.
- I had a closing shift last night and an opening shift this morning, which means that there wasn't time to get enough sleep.
- Add that to the fact that I'm sick and need more sleep than usual, and I had to take a long nap after work.
-

-

- Three nights ago, fifty dollars went missing from my register.
- That was stressful, but the next night, I asked and was told that the money had been found in the safe.
- Someone had miscounted the money when removing it from the till.
- However, that same night that I found that everything was fine, sixty dollars went missing from my register.
- It wasn't in the safe (the head manager checked at least three times before I left, and it couldn't be accounted for.
- I was sent home with the register tape to try to figure out what had happened.
- That was a futile effort on my part.
- The next night though (yesterday), once again, the money was found, though I'm not sure where.
- What the heck? Why does money keep disappearing from the register that makes *me* look guilty.
- I'm not sure how I would have handled it emotionally if that'd happened again last night, but this time, all the money was where it should be.
-

-

- My canary still sings the tune of freedom and transparency.

-
University life

-

- I've been putting most of my school progress in my learning journal this week, but the learning journal doesn't feel like the right place to put my discussion board posts.
- I feel like it would annoy the professor.
- With that in mind, I'm putting my discussion posts here in my regular journal as usual.
-

-

- I work at a fast food restaurant.
- We try to get everyone's orders correct, but we're only human, so mistakes happen.
- We value customers and believe that they're more likely to return if we do our best to fix our mistakes.
- Part of our culture is to try to get repeat business, so we try to make our customers happy even when their order is wrong.
- One way that we do that is my replacing any order that we fill incorrectly.
- We don't make customers jump through a lot of hoops, so it's very easy for customers to complain and get new food.
- This is one of our strengths, as it keeps customers from getting even madder at us like they would if getting their orders replaced was made more difficult.
-

-

- However, this is also one of our weaknesses.
- Sometimes, scammers hit us up for gratis food by making false complains.
-

-

- The main artifacts that you can see of this culture are our policy of replacing the order of any customer that complains and our pinned stack of gratis item tickets.
- When a customer comes in with a complaint but doesn't want the replacement right away, we write up a ticket for them and pin it up with the rest of the gratis item tickets written up for other customers.
- That way, we know who we still have left to provide gratis items to.

- University of the People only offers three fields of study: business administration, computer science, and health science.
- They offer associate's and bachelor's degrees in all three fields.
- However, they only offer master's degrees in business administration.
- If I wish to seek a master's degree from this school, I'm going to have to switch fields.
- Obviously, I'm not going to do that though.
- Or am I? It seems that while a bachelor's degree is required for admission into the master's degree program, that bachelor's degree need not be in a business-related field.
- In other words, I may continue with my computer science degree while still preparing for a master's degree from this school, should I choose to.
- So what does that mean for me? Well, to get into the master's degree program, I also need to have taken seven courses that I wouldn't have taken for a Bachelor of Computer Science degree that I would have if I'd gone with a Bachelor of Business administration.
- Furthermore, I need two years of full-time work experience before I can be admitted.
- The courses that I need are as follows:
-

-

-
BUS 1102: Basic Accounting (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 1103: Microeconomics (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 1104: Macroeconomics (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 2201: Principles of Marketing (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 2203: Principles of Finance 1 (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 4402: Organization Behavior (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 4403: Business Policies & Strategies (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-

-

- If we arrange those in terms of prerequisites, we get this:
-

-

-
BUS 1101: Principles of Business Management

-
BUS 1102: Basic Accounting (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 2203: Principles of Finance 1 (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-

-
BUS 1103: Microeconomics (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 1104: Macroeconomics (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 2201: Principles of Marketing (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 2207: Multinational Management

-
BUS 4403: Business Policies & Strategies (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)***

-

-

-
BUS 4402: Organization Behavior (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)

-
BUS 3306: Business and Society

-
BUS 4403: Business Policies & Strategies (proctored course) (must score 2.67/4.0 or higher)***

-

-

- That adds two more courses to the list of what's required before entering the master's degree program because of the prerequisites.
- I think that I found what I want to put my elective credits towards: preparing for my master's degree! I may decide not to get a master's degree in business administration, but it doesn't hurt to prepare in case I decide that this is the right path for me.
- If only the university's glitches didn't burn one of my elective slots already, as I already don't have enough.
- But wait, this is where it gets good.
- While I don't directly need to take BUS 1101 before entering the master's degree program, I *do* need to take that course as a prerequisite for literally *all* of the courses that I don't need for my bachelor's degree but that I'll need to take before entering the master's degree program.
- Strangely, though it wasn't my intent, this new plan retroactively makes BUS 1101 the right course for me to have been in all along.
- Yay? The degree itself consists of twelve courses.
- Their prerequisite tree is tangled and convoluted though:

-

- I'll probably integrate this new information with my existing course requirement tree when time allows.
- The master's degree is too far in the future to add to my tree just yet, as it requires having found a full-time job, but the information on prerequisites has narrowed down my choices in electives for my associate's and bachelor's degrees.
- Taking more business courses is probably going to hurt though, I'm not going to lie.
- I don't have the right mind for it.
- However, if I plan to run my own business at some point (which would prevent me from having to work for an unethical company), these courses could come very much in handy.

- I got a lead today about a property manager that might be able to rent to me: Emerald Property Management.
- I have a name, but not an address.
- I also got a lead a couple days ago, though I have a street corner to find them on, but no name.
- When this term at school ends, I need to look into both options and submit applications if I'm able to meet their requirements.
