I should note this is a rather weird machine. I do not have full root access on it.

I've tried all the fixes as described in troubleshooting, in various ways. I tried changing DNS, no dice. I cannot edit /etc/gai.conf directly, but I managed to do it in "An Anime Game Launcher"'s flatpak container environment, no dice. I do not think it's the ISP or any sort of blocking because the game downloads, logs in, and updates (updates as in within the game itself, not the launcher) just fine. Another laptop I have on the same network starts and runs the game just fine.

This problem replicated on a baremetal lutris install and a Flatpak install. Wine-GE-Proton 7.35. Ubuntu. DXVK 1.10.3.

Please see attached screenshots. Do note the white screen does not always have a loading bar on it.

A few observations:

  • The gai.conf workaround originates from issue #351. However, your problem seems to appear as soon the UDP connection to the game server is established/attempted.
  • fixme:nsi:ipv6_forward_enumerate_all not implemented also appears in my logs but does not affect the game from what I can tell.
  • This issue could be a temporary, caused by your ISP. See #347.

A few ideas:

  1. Have you yet tested other multiplayer games? Do they suffer from similar connectivity issues?
  2. Do UDP connections work for you? Example test: https://superuser.com/a/1242838
  3. Have you yet tried to use a VPN? A tunnel should resolve provider-related issues.

I am by no means well-versed in networking, hence another user might have a more precise idea of what could be wrong.
