TMD26713 optical proximity sensor which is used as stylus detect is obsolete.
One needs to replace it with a newer part (preferrable reverse compatible) or source it from the n900.

Idea:
Stylus goes in, light path [through orifice (or suborifice 1 if 2 hole design), bounce off a stylus bay wall, back through the orifice (or suborifice 2 if 2 hole design)] is interrupted.
Ideally just 1/0 output.

it cannot be sourced because it is an extra feature of neo900. that also means that there is no compatibility requirement.

5 bucks for a sensor is too much. Rule of a thumb (proposed by joerg):
