          <p><a href="http://documentfreedom.org/index.en.html">Document Freedom Day</a> is an international campaign coordinated by the <a href="http://fsfe.org">Free Software Foundation Europe</a> (FSFE) and <a href="http://documentfreedom.org/events/events.en.html">organized by groups all over the world</a> with the aim of spreading awareness of Free digital formats and their importance.</p>
          <p>Free formats are digital formats with complete specifications, equally available to everyone interested, which do not depend on non-free formats or protocols, which don't impose any restriction to anyone for implementing or distributing them and for which there are available complete competing implementations or at least a complete Free implementation, in the form of Free Software.</p>
          <p>Non-free or proprietary formats prevent the implementation of Free Software to read and modify them through technical (incomplete specifications) or legal means (patents). Thus, the users of non-free formats are blocked by the developers to only use their proprietary software, because other (Free) software are not interoperable.</p>
          <p>Using non-free formats has negative consequences on both individual freedom and society, because it encourages non-competitive practices and prevents the development of Free, user freedom respecting, software.</p>

          <p>On March 23rd 2013, Fundația Ceata has organized in Bucharest a Document Freedom Day event in the Room 2201 of the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics (15-17 Calea Dorobanților) of the University of Economic Studies (ASE).</p>
          <p>The event was supported by the Department of Tourism and Geography of the Faculty of Commerce of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (lecturer Alexandru Gavriș).</p>
          <p><b>Irina Popescu</b>, volunteer and supporting member of Fundația Ceata, had the role of event moderator.</p>

          <p>The president of Fundația Ceata, Tiberiu C. Turbureanu, has been <a href="http://documentfreedom.org/testimonials.en.html#quote-turbureanu">quoted by FSFE</a> in the English version of the Document Freedom Day official website. Thus, the message of Fundația Ceata about user freedom and Free formats has spread all over the world.</p>

          <h4 id="cerere"><a href="#cerere">Request for room</a></h4>
          <p>Tiberiu C. Turbureanu has written a letter of request for the event room which in turn Alexandru Gavriș has reviewed and forwarded it to the management of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE). From this letter of request, we extract the goal and motivation:</p>
          <blockquote>The goal of this campaign is to inform computer users about the importance of using Free formats for digital documents. These Free formats ensure that users' freedom is respected in a democratic society and provides the ground for a Free market, governed by fairness and competition. Fundația Ceata activates for rejecting non-free formats which reinforce one developer monopoly, and for choosing Free formats.</blockquote>
          <blockquote>Organizing the Document Freedom Day in the University of Economic Studies is an important opportunity for its students and staff members to get in contact with the Free formats and software, and for the institution, to get noticed in the international DFD event list.</blockquote>
          <p>The request has been approved and Fundația Ceata has received the support for organizing the event in Room 2201. The letter of request is available in the Free formats <a href="altele/Cerere_de_spațiu.odt">ODT</a> and <a href="altele/Cerere_de_spațiu.pdf">PDF</a>.</p>

          <p>The font used by FSFE for the title and subtitle of the official website is <a href="http://documentfreedom.org/artwork.ro.html#fonts">"Yanone Kaffeesatz"</a> and unfortunately, it doesn't include Romanian diacritics. Cornel-Florentin Dimitriu, volunteer member of Fundația Ceata, has modified this Free font using the Free Software called FontForge and has made the <a href="http://ceata.org/~fdcx/tipuri_de_scriere/YanoneKaffeesatz_fdcx/">completed version</a> available to everybody interested. This modified font is used by Fundația Ceata on this page and it will be soon sent as update to FSFE and to the author, Yanone.</p>

          <h3 id="despre-noi"><a href="#despre-noi">About us</a></h3>
          <p>În conformity with its <a href="https://wiki.ceata.org/index.php/Statut#Art._6_-_Scopul">Constitution</a>, Fundația Ceata is a nonprofit organization which aims to liberate the Romanian users from restrictions in arts and technologies, in compliance with the current Romanian Law.</p>
          <p>Ceata is an active community with almost 5 years long history, which has operated as informal group from June 10th 2008 to February 15th 2013, when Fundația Ceata has been incorporated. At the <a href="http://ceata.org/presa#lansarea">launch event</a> of Fundația Ceata on February 22nd 2013, Richard Stallman himself has given a speech.</p>
          <p>Unfortunately, Fundația Ceata is the only Romanian organization aligned with the <a href="http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/">Free Software philosophy</a>. Although it encounters many obstacles in growing the Free Software Movement in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Fundația Ceata organizes many events like this one, and develops Free works (software, articles, pictures, recordings), and persuades organizations and individuals to release their works under Free licenses, through continuous activism efforts.</p>
          <p>Fundația Ceata has its headquarters in Bucharest, but it has two local teams of volunteer members, <a href="cj.ceata.org">Ceata-CJ</a> and <a href="http://md.ceata.org">Ceata-MD</a>, and aims to extend its local team network in other counties of Romania and abroad, where Romanian communities exist.</p>
