Right now it is impossible to make a bed out of Nether materials. This means the Nether Challenge can't ever be beat.
Beds need cotton (only obtainable from Oerkki that drop junglegrass) and red dye (obtainable from flowers or kalite, neither of which spawn in the Nether).
Remaining materials (sticks, wood) are available.

Cotton/string can be obtained from cobwebs, and made into wool blocks. Could add a Nether Arachnid mob to the nether .... This still leaves dye out, though.

Note: the bed is strictly required for the Nether Challenge. It should not require an undue amount of effort for the player to get one.

Nether challenge loot chest now contains beds IIRC. Also cotton can now be gotton from Nevermore flowers.
