  1. ripit (command line audio CD ripper)
  2. RipIT is used to create MPEG-1 Layer 3 (mp3) using Lame, or uses Flac
  3. (flac), Ogg Vorbis (ogg), Faac (m4a), Musepack (mpc), mp4als (als),
  4. Wavpack (wv) or ffmpeg to convert audio files (wav) extracted from an
  5. audio CD. It is a console based front-end (no GUI here), written in
  6. Perl, for various programs which must be installed.
  7. RipIT has *many* optional dependencies; see README_SBo.txt for details.
  8. RipIT has a vast (some would say bewildering) array of command-line
  9. and config file options. See its man page and the comments in
  10. /etc/ripit/config for details.
  11. The program will do the following without user intervention:
  12. * get the audio CD Album/Artist/Tracks info from MusicBrainz or freeCDDB
  13. * rip the audio CD Tracks
  14. * encode to Flac, mp3, Ogg-Vorbis, mpc, m4a or als
  15. * id3 tag encoded songs
  16. * create a playlist (m3u) file
  17. * optionally generate a toc or inf files for DAO burning with, CD-text
  18. * optionally prepare and send a CDDB submission and save it locally
  19. * optionally extract hidden songs and split ghost songs
  20. * optionally create md5sum files for all tracks
  21. * run several encoder processes at the same time and same run
