Hey! At what camera resolution does this happen? Try different resolutions (640x480 320x240 176x144 160x120) and tell me if any of them worked or not. Also if possible, boot from kernel 5.6 or 5.10 to test the module.

I don't know how this is done with mpv. I used VLC - you can specify your resolution there. Someone used Cheese, but I still did not understand how to set the desired resolution in it. For mpv, there may be startup options that indicate resolution, but I don't know about them. If you don't know, try VLC.

We have a little problem. It lies in the fact that my hardware has a different camera model and it works properly with the 5.14.16 kernel. I’m afraid that I can hardly help you with something. I do not have hardware for development and debugging. Try booting into kernels 5.6 or 5.10. If the camera works with them, then I can try to see what changes have been made to the kernel to figure it out. I will also have a request to post a more complete dmesg output. Load the module, start capturing at different resolutions and put the output starting with "r5u870v2 is here." to the end - maybe I will see something interesting, because in the output that you provided, I do not see any errors.
