#43 Plans for upcomming releases of RBA

For v2.2.2 and following releases of RBA I plan to add a few additional features that don't require a breaking change.

  • 2 new spells:

-- blink (lets player teleport on a seen tile)

-- blizzard (freezes monsters and water for a few turns)

  • grot and mines need a bit more interesting layout

  • make use of prefixes for equipment that have already implemented in v2.2.0 but are disabled right now

  • visual feedback for status effects

  • maybe some mini boss monsters

-- For example I plan to add medusa to the grot (she spawns inside a temple and can immobilise the player with ranged attacks if he/she isn't blind while batteling her

  • maybe a new class of wearable items called relicts

-- can be droped by bosses

-- are worn in a special slot

-- give you a permanent status effect or can be activated for a special action (maybe we need a new key-binding for this feature)

-- example: "Medusa's Head" is droped by medusa and can be used to immobilize a single monster. After every use it has some kind of cool down periode

  • a new material: demonit

-- destroyed demonic mirrors in deep desert underground will open a portal into a hell dimension that collapses after a few turns

-- inside this dimension the player has to face demon knights and demon priests which drop demonit equipment

-- after a fixed number of turns inside hell dimension player will return to the location where he/she entered the portal

  • better drinking mechanics

-- drinking from puddles ect adds a bad status effect on the player so this option is only some kind of last resort

-- fountains are save but dry after drinking (they will regenerate water if a water source is near by)

-- possibility to fill water in bottles

-- you can use a furnace to make bottles with dirty water save (or maybe not)

  • more slots for misc items

  • more decorative clothing

I think the number of changes that are possible without breaking save-files shows that RBA is on a good way to become a suitable base for mods and alternative variants. With v2.3.0 I plan to make monster abilities and player status effects more generic. So adding one of these will be no problem for save-files as well. I hope v2.3.0 will be the last version with breaking changes for a long time.
