#77 Funding for implementations

Hey people, just wanting to share an idea and see if anyone wants to try.

A spec is nice but we'll need implementations. Vervis is nice but it's not an existing fully functioning forge. It could be, but right now, the main targets for bringing ForgeFed to the fediverse are forges like Gitea, GitLab and so on.

I'll be working on Vervis, and with the precious help from other people, turning it into (1) a full reference implementation (2) a fully functioning forge. I won't be coding federation into other, existing forges.

IDEA: Volunteer to implement federation into an existing forge. Such as Gitea. Then, apply for funding through the various organizations that would definitely consider funding such work (for example NLNet). You could get a whole year, if not more, of funded full-time work implementing ForgeFed. And you'll have help and guidance from the ActivityPub dev community, and from me too.

Anyone wants to try that?
