xmllint for most parsing. Since I'm not familiar with XML, there's some
guesswork, but it has been working with the feeds I'm interested in.
perl -MHTML::Entities to remove HTML entities.
Other than that,
Tested on Archlinux and Lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, conky version 1.9.x
conky-rss to your needs, esp. make the script source your
desired configuration. There's a default config file in the
amongst a few others to show what's possible.
You can create your own config files, just copy the default.cfg and uncomment & adjust the variables you want to override.
startconky file is there to ensure that conky's working directory is the
directory it and the shell script are stored in.
Arranges columns of feeds horizontally.
