Not quite yet, different machine made and designed by different company (shinai-mv, by lenovo) than t400 (malibu-3, by USI). You can crossflash for now, for limited support

Also has WSON8 which needs to be replaced, which requires a bit more skill and being cautious of surroundings, unlike on x200s/t

Swift Geek, are you saying that the flash chip needs to be de-soldered from the motherboard in order to flash it?

Needs to be changed to SOIC8, just like on x200s/t

Would it be possible to mention on the main site that a soldering step is required to flash LibreBoot on a T400s? This might serve as a useful warning to people who don't have soldering skills yet but are interested in flashing their T400s.

It's a whole different device, new page needs to be written for it. Patches welcome

I have successfully been able to install Libreboot onto a T400s, and will be adding in some documentation onto the Libreboot website for those looking to try it for themselves.

Hello,

I bought an old T400s and checked everywhere I could how to use libreboot on it. First of all : Is your documentation here https://notabug.org/esmith1412/libreboot/src/master/docs/install/t400s_external.md up-to-date ?

Then the big part ;-) :

I read somewhere at https://trisquel.info/en/forum/ that Persmule or Tiberiu from technoethical made/used a patch mentioned here https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/libreboot-dev/2016-08/msg00027.html incorporated to T400s image (or here ? https://lists.libreplanet.org/archive/html/libreboot/2016-05/msg00017.html), is it needed and could I find it somewhere ?

I saw nothing for T400s in https://libreboot.org documentation wiki even Technoethical said they would help to make some guide (https://trisquel.info/en/forum/technoethical-t400s-now-available?page=2#comment-116477).

I found other informations here https://trisquel.info/en/forum/technoethical-t400s-now-available?page=2#comment-116437 here : https://trisquel.info/en/forum/technoethical-t400s-now-available?page=4#comment-123747 and here about soldering : https://trisquel.info/en/forum/technoethical-t400s-now-available?page=4#comment-123751

--> To sum up (please correct me if I'm wrong) :

SOLUTION 1 :

  1. I need a T400S image and/or with the SATA patch
  2. I need to solder the microcontroller wires to the WSON8 Chip and then flash it (or desolder the chip form the motherboard solder it to the microcontroller, flash it then desolder it and resolder to the motherboard depening on the microcontroller brand)

SOLUTION 2 :

  1. I need a T400 image (how to get it ? direcly from a genuine T400 SOIC8 bought chip ? ... and with no motherboard to make the image)
  2. I need to replace the WSON-8 chip by the T400 8mb SOIC-8 chip part bought, desoldering/soldering
  3. I need to flash the SOIC-8 chip with a microcontroller and a clip (because T400 chip shape doesn't require soldering)

I have never flashed a chip, and I'm a complete noob at libreboot but I like challenges.

Thank you in advance for reading and for giving me some help for the most courageous ones ! ^^

You SHOULD NOT solder wires to wson8 ever unless you care more about flash contents than board. Soldering wires like that is an easy recipe for destroying board (effects of which can be sometimes visible in months time)

Issue tracker is not support page, move to IRC for that
