I've been using LUKS2 with no problem. It seems that the only requirement is that you use the PKBDF2 algorithm rather than a standard one like AES. I have some documentation on my website about making this all work, with a PKBDF2 boot partition and a more secure root partition unlocked after the kernel loads but I doubt it will be of much use if you're planning to switch to the linux+busybox payload soon. If you want, I can make a PR to change the docs based on what I have on my site. If this issue isn't stale then let me know.
The info on my site is here: https://thonkpeasant.xyz/guides/other/luks-suspend.html

Yeah, I've been pretty busy but I think I can eek out some time to add this to docs. How about one general guide and then maybe distro specific additional guides that only detail the differences from the main guide. The process is quite straightforward unless one is using calamares or another graphical installer.

luks2 still doesn't work well in grub, even with the right module added
tell people to just use seabios, linuxboot or downgrade to luksv1

pointless. better just leave it broken, use seabios and later fix it. there are patches dotted around here and there that i can look into for this.
re-opening. your guide looks interesting.
caleb, can you adapt that guide and send to lbwww?
