I don't know if you would want to now, or later, etc...

But I see you guys like the K.I.S.S approach to software.

I very much agree with it myself.

I know of another project that goes way beyond even you guys and is still libre, more so than, I would say all of them.

At this time, they are planning to transition to a hard fork based on OpenBSD.

Yes, its THAT project. ;)

I didn't put much in title, btw because I think it better you see the whole text.

I don't know if this would help either of you, etc...

But with the way GNU/Linux-Libre is going, regarding many different things, bloat, especially, I felt the need to suggest this, especially since your distro is moving very slowly, as is the one I speak of.

You would have to look at their guidelines to see your thoughts,

https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:start https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:project:fhs

https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:manual:contrib:packaging_guidelines

https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:manual:contrib:coding_style_guidelines

https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:manual:contrib:hyperbola_roadmap

https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:project:donations https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:project:social_contract

Lately they've been having some issues with time, etc, due to basically working on two operating systems at once, among other things.

They have removed a crap ton of bloated frameworks, including dbus, avahi, they also use libressl btw but also sndio and xenocara.

I don't expect you do anything much, its still not beta quite yet.

But, if you are willing to help, there is a bonus for you as well, if for example you want to make an even leaner system than before.

OpenBSD is a massively security focused OS already, but if you combine that with their lack of bloat and add Hyperbola's standards on being libre, you might go even beyond your current state on being K.I.S.S.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend jumping in without knowing what to expect, etc... and without talking to anyone you think might not like this idea, but its a suggestion, nothing more nothing less.

But if they succeed, you could fork and make your own version of it and make the changes you want to, potentially to your version,

Also, any help within their scope is helpful.

I chat with them every so often, etc...

Anywho, think it over, if possible.

As a side note, I am impressed that beyond specific kisslinux forked distros, that there is other ones that still use LibreSSL besides Hyperbola.

Regardless, you have probably the 2nd best GNU distro at this point I think.

Peace tho!

No worries, I knew this was a huge shot in the dark, etc... hope you guys stay alive though! I at least appreciate you have some minimalist standard.

No, this will be saved here, that's what the mailing list is for in case of discussion. This is not a shot in the dark, positive or negative. What you say is another point of view, which is fine.

In my case, I didn't answer this "issue" before or I don't answer in detail because I don't have time or energy to get into a discussion, the effort is forthcoming to reach the new version of Dragora.

I did try to build Xenocara before, but with no luck. Also the inclusion of Musl in Dragora seems to me a plus point more than the C library of the BSD systems, because Musl for me is a better C library than the BSD systems, just like that. Dragora 3 also includes security features (not only the one already offered by Musl) but also the one included in commercial distributions.

What you propose is not bad, not to mention the tremendous effort involved.

Fair enough, regarding the musl idea, but I am lost on everything else... that being said, was kind of confused with the rest of it, but it wouldn't make sense as of now anyhow, even if it was worth anything... that being said, with specific situations of late, I barely use this account much anyhow. But yeah, I didn't expect you to delete my thought, to be honest, I didn't know what to expect, but I assumed, that now might not be a good time. That being said, I am impressed you tried to build xenocara. I only really threw the idea out in case I was wrong, which I have been in the past many a time. That being said, of all the distros I could choose, in the FSF approved list, yours is probably the most minimalistic one that doesn't suck imo with my only exception being Hyperbola. Either way, I am in fact glad there is alternatives to GNU/Linux users other than Trisquel and Parabola and Guix. -Zap

Hello again,

I understand, and my intention is not to delete any message, in fact the status of the comment was changed to "Closed", it has not been deleted but it is saved in the Issue Tracker. A more appropriate place to send suggestions or receive feedback from other people would be the Dragora user mailing list. Feel free to post there.

Thank you for your words.
